Tite Front-Nose Off The Ball(2-4-5)
I have a question. at 17:09 if we were to substitute our WR wouldn't the other team have the option to substitute ? Also in my opion I wouldn't substitute the WR because my guy is going to be well conditioned to not be tired in the third play of the sequence while the CB might have hands on hips wanting a break that gives me a great opportunity to pick on him further.
Sub rules are not identical in HS and College. I understand the conditioning point, have to hope we work way harder than they do. A fresh WR from our sideline will definitely have a chance
Can you breakdown what type of player each linebacker and Defensive back a kid needs to be at the specific positions of this defense please?
I can try yes
Coach, was not able to catch this the other night. What you said at the end about working with players every day or at least every other day, agreed. This is yet another reason why, if it's a one-platoon team, I prefer to have guys work offense and defense every day instead of having "emphasis days." Think about it, if it's roughly the same amount of things you are working each week and the same amount of time to get all that done, I'd rather guys be working stuff every day on both sides of the ball, and also building and maintaining familiarity between the coaches and players with each position group a player might play for.
I agree 100% we have tried it each way and like everyday better
Coach, you said you had no problems playing 3 high with a 4 man box against 2x2 (wr’s removed). Are you staying 3 high in this situation or are you steadfast on going 3-4 2 high because of your camp rule? Just seems if they were in this 2x2 removed and they motioned to trips it’s a simple adjustment for M/S if you stayed 3 high. What would be your adjustment?? Leave the M/S as the overhang and bump the L/S over? Thanks Coach.
Leaning towards 3x2 box for simplicity
Great video coach, on my own free time (not in the coaching world at the moment but do want to one day and even then I’m under no impression it wouldn’t take years before getting a legit crack at this) I’ve been theorizing about something similar to your 3-4 adjustment here as a base where both overhangs are safety/backer types and which of the guys becomes a 4th rusher is a bit fluid (and out of base camp rules it’s the drop 7, rush 3, spy 1 of the inside backers based on post snap cue probably off of the back where the inside backer who gets the weakside cue is the spy; I’d also have an ideal for how much base/rush 4/pressures I’d wanna send and probably have one of my assistants keep track so I can know what I’m over/under calling, and what calls are working that night vs not so it’s not just guy alone). This video definitely helped me with a few questions I’d had and tweaked a couple things for me mentally on how the whole puzzle fits that made more sense the more I thought about it.
Thank You!!! You are on the right track
why do you play your SAM outside of #2? how can he be the force player etc?
It’s actually easier to force from outside in. It removes him from the fit inside so now the Safety has to be involved. Changing leverage makes it tougher on the offense
The best team in our region plays a a stack and over front with 3-4 personnel vs spread teams and a over front 4-4 vs 30/22 and certain 21 personnel offense and they play 2-3 fronts and 2-3 different coverages that are mostly adjustments in their defense. This philosophy applies at just about all levels.
Yes sir!!!!
What is 21 personal
2 RBS 1 TE
Best adjustment to 3x1 Y Wing into the Bndy? Would like to leave Sam to Field.
A 3 deep weak rotation will avoid having to play man on the backside. Depends on what coverages your boundary kids can play
Coach Mac I just messaged you on Patreon about how to legally use a drone in game and provided contact information. Love the content! Long time watcher and Patreon subscriber.
Love the Nose deal, makes perfect sense!!!!
I need some basic review, coach. I know I know this, but I am drawing a blank and it is driving me nuts. What does the 'A' designate on the defensive line?
Anchor for us, the 4i away from the strength
Anchor
Love this stuff coach. Groundskeeper in central Texas and this is all I’ll listen to on the mower 😂. Getting ready for my first year as a teacher/coach. Your content has definitely helped slow the game down for me. Appreciate it!
Thank You, i roll greens at a golf course also!!!
Great video as always commenting for the algorithm, wondering if you’ve seen more of the veer and shoot (Tennessee/Briles) type offenses where you’re at
Oh yes, pain in the neck
Think about how would you defend against a 4 WR and 1 Pass catching TE in a 3 high safety world? I would sub in 4 CBs for the 4 WR. This would leave 1 MLB and 3 high safeties. Man the LB on the TE, drop down the M/S and have him play MLB. What one does with the other safeties is up to the play caller. Personally, I would split the field in half and have the Left/safety play the Left side of the field and have the Right/safety play the Right side of the field in Zone just like they would in Cover 2. But that’s just me. It is up to the play caller and it depends on the field position and the placement of the ball on the line of scrimmage with respect to the hashes, the field, and the boundaries. If 50+ yards on our side of the line of scrimmage I would run the two remaining safeties as similar to cover 2 to defend against the home run ball. The closer we get to the red zone I may think to change, and to incorporate different blitz types.
We don’t change personnel much
You also take your MLB and make him play man against the TE and then drop your M/S down and make him play MLB.
Very old school 46 defense like
So…basically what you’re looking for in your M/S is a player that is a combination of a Free safety and a Strong safety. I would look for a combo player like this that can play man to man against a TE like a combo Safety(FS/SS) Linebacker.
Agreed
We call that strong island
Haha, was with your boy Chris Cam last week!!!
@@CoachMac next time I'll drive down!!
Looking forward to it coach!
Gotta get back amped up
I’m in Fort Stewart GA, Home of the 3rd Infantry Division. Back at it tomorrow night with 7v7
Love it. You have a breakdown of this defense yet?
I think a ways back. He calls it 11 robber there but it might be slightly different
@@r.mcdonnell8614 thx. I'll check it out
Yes, 11 Robber video. Played versions of it before
Hey Coach, I'm a freelance video editor. I would love to create captions for your videos, and also can improve the text that you use on video. Would you like to see some of my samples and then decide if we can have a short discussion?
Thank you Coach!
You bet!!!
Thanks coach!
Keep it up coach
Yes sir
What are the best 2 series from wing t for 2nd/3rd graders?
Buck Sweep and Trap in my opinion, but would carry Waggle also
How do you play this against trips??
Usually lock #1 and play 2 Read off of 2 and 3. Brings it back to the same as 2 Open receivers
You always got good stuff coach. Thanks.
Thank You!!!
3_3_3
We play it with 3-3 personnel and we love it.
Hell yea!!!
Would love a whiteboard video where you break down what they did, how they did it!
Don’t want to put their stuff out there out of respect to them
Wide split receivers?
Yes sir
I live by wide splits😁
Pain in the neck
Thank you coach. I think making a series of videos would help focus more on one specific area, allowing people to move to the next progression at their pace. I think this would make it more simple for kids to install.
Yes sir, thank you
Special Delivery; love it! Great video!
Thank You
I sent this to our Special Teams Coordinator.
Nice video more boss
My name is Coach Mac also
Nice!!!

Always look forward to your videos coach. I seen a twist to good ole county cov 3 from a 44 over front. They got into some back front and under vs trips eventually but how they played surprised me when they were 1 high 44. When they got doubles 4 verts the OLB's would look to get under #1 and the ILBs would trail #2. They read flow vs run the PS ILB steps c the BS LB would step FS A. He said some teams GP against it but they don't get out of this until they have too. Those 3 dbs would mid point and those OLBs were there on a couple occasions. Vs trips in their 2 high they play some palms and 1/4. The Strong end 5 tech is rushing the passer unless he gets a mesh, when he gets a mesh he would close that open b. The 3 tech stayed with the back and the BS 5 became a Jack LB 4x2. They have some kids that can run those OLB's are hybrid players. All 4 d lineman go 210-230.
Good stuff
Couldn't agree more Coach
Great Advice; I struggle with this every year. I’ll be more cognizant of indicators of execution. Thanks!
Love ya Rock, enjoy retirement!!!!
Coach, in 10p 1 back spread (16:00 mark), how are you playing coverage weak side to ensure you have an immediate force player without walking the will out?
We would get out of 3 High and play the M/S as the weak overhang and become more 3-4 in nature. In 3 High we would set the Sam away from the back to the side of the plug backer. The backer to the 4I would walk and we fit the M/S in the A gap. We are not playing plug fits vs 10 in the spring currently
Oddly enough this is one of the biggest issues for the younger QBs who are impatient on their drops as well. It's a great key look especially with those zone looks and picking up ahead of time.
Zone
Man
WORD!!!
Thank you
I had some really good spill players in the past. Buck sweep would chew them up.
For sure
Yes! Always give them they Why. So much more receptive when we do that
Zone
Absolute gamer! Definitely could’ve been more prepared, but you made plays when the lights were brightest.
I am the definition of improvise and adjust
Thanks, Coach! Right on time! I have new coaches!
Hope it helps
We split O and D daily approximately 45min each. I’m a O line coach so this is easier for my position group. I look to skill time every chance I can get. The best time to steal time is during special team periods. Most special teams don’t use the majority of the o line, I’m sure there’s 1 or 2 that’s athletic enough get get on a team or two, Monday during specials is a footwork, tues during specials is sled, Wednesday specials is chute. Thur is blitz pick up. This all is on top of the 45 mins that’s scripted for offensive periods
That is a solid plan
Hey coach, how do you split practice? Do you have an O day then a D day or do you split it half and half?
Usually an O emphasis with D late, and Vice Versa
